Youth Workers come from diverse educational backgrounds. While academic programs for youth work are being established and implemented throughout the state there is currently no set academic program for this field.
Non-University based youth worker trainings are also available though many different organizations, such as the Girl Scouts and the Department of Child Services. Please download one of these PDF's for a more extensive list of classes available and the competencies that they cover.

The programs listed to the left are academic degree programs that prepare students for service to youth and or the community. The programs listed are not the only path to the field of youth work and most universities offer programs in education, non-profit management, and social work that would be an excellent base for a career in youth work.
The following list is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all educational institutions in Indiana but a list of programs relevant to the field.
